St. Croix Lutheran High School – The SCPA Lions Track teams had a successful section meet to bring their season to a conclusion on Thursday, June 2nd. Juniors Carly Scheuerman and Austin Have led the Lions by qualifying for the Minnesota State High School League State Track Meet.
Scheuerman finished 2nd in the women’s 400 M Dash with a time of 59.93 to qualify for the State Meet. Have, finished 3rd in the 300 M Hurdles but his time was fast enough to also qualify him for the State Meet.
Other strong finishes for the Lions on the women’s team included junior Linnea Soli (11th in the 200 M Dash), Scheuerman (4th in the 800 M Dash), junior Kathleen Klinzing (11th in the 1600 M Run), sophomore Oliva Witt (13th in the 3200 M Run), junior Amy Eckberg (11th in the 300 M Hurdles), junior Eli Schulte (8th in the Shot Put and 9th in the Discus) and Meg Schulte (8th in the Discus).
On the men’s side the following athletes reached the finals and placed; sophomore Andrew Rippy (16th in the 200 M Dash), senior Sam Richardson (4th in the 400 M Dash and 4th in High Jump), senior Soren Schwendeman (4th in the 800 M Run, 5th in the 1600 M Run), junior Evan Smith (5th in the Shot Put and 6th in the Discus) and the 4 x 400 M Relay Team of Austin Have, Jacob Grubisch, Andrew Rippy and Sam Richardson finished in 6th place for the meet.
Have and Scheuerman will compete in the Minnesota State Track Meet on June 10th at Hamline University in St. Paul.
